Well, we are past the primaries, and we had a particularly good showing of the 40th LD delegation. We should all be immensely proud of Senator Lovelett, and Representatives Lekanoff, and Ramel.
But that does not mean that our work is done.
We are now looking to November, and the surrounding legislative districts, and the counties inside of the 40th. There are critical races in Skagit County that we as an LD have endorsed candidates in for county commission. In the 10th LD, there are three Democrats working hard to represent all the people in that district but are opposed by strong Republican challengers. In the 42nd LD, there are two extraordinarily talented women running for the state house, and they need our support.
We are in unprecedented times when it comes to voting. As a fully mail-in ballot state, we rely upon the US Postal Service to deliver and return the bulk of all ballots cast in a timely fashion to be counted.
We, the executive board, encourage you all to mark you ballots and return them either via the USPS, inside the pre-paid envelope provided, or directly to the county auditor’s office, in one of the many ballot drop boxes, as soon as possible after you receive your ballot.
If there are problems, or if you do not receive your ballot, notify your county auditor’s office asap. The current administration in the white house has undertaken the crippling of the USPS, and we can’t let that happen, or keep us from voting!
As chair of the 40th, I encourage you all to work with the local coordinated campaign that is closest to you, through the county Democrat offices.
There are ongoing phone banks, post card writing drives, and a whole host of creative and imaginative ways of getting out the messages for our candidates and who we are as Democrats.

In the age of COVID- 19, the ability of a campaign to reach out to voters is all digital or through mailings. We need your help!
Also included in this email, is a document about donating money to campaigns in battle grounds outside our area.
It is not a fundraising letter, it’s a “how-to” guide with online links to a group that explains how to best donate to a battleground race that we are not physically close to.
It is a great resource, a primer on how to, and why. I hope that you will give it a look.
